Fashion That Needs to Stay Out of the Office

It makes people super uncomfortable when your boobs are literally hanging out of your shirt. People don’t know where to look and when they are looking you into your eyes, it looks like their neck is going to break.

Visible Undergarments

Whether it is the panty line or your bra strap, both are tacky. The VPL is the worst, yet people still do it! And no one wants to see your bra through your shirt or having that ratty strap keep falling down!

Casual Fridays

This is not about crop tops and distressed jeans, it’s about looking professional sans the dress clothes. An excuse to wear jeans while still looking put together.

Ill Fitting Clothes

I am a HUGE fan of clothes that look like they were handmade for the person wearing them. There is nothing I hate more then when my button on my oxford pulls over my boobs or when my dress pants are too tight and my pockets pull. Also your dress pants should never be so tight that they roll on your leg as jeans tend to do

Wrinkled and Stained Clothes

There have been multiple times where I have left the house in something that looks like it was laying on my floor because well… it was. It only happens because I rush and when I rush my clothes are the ones who suffer. So try picking them out AND ironing them the night before. Doing this will also prevent wearing something that has that coffee stain you’ve been meaning to take to the dry cleaner.

There are a lot of articles out there they say don’t wear sky high heels, messy up-dos are sloppy, and my favorite don’t wear too little or too much makeup. Your style is your style and just because you now work in an office doesn’t mean you have to lose that. Yes maybe certain things can stay at home but honestly I try cross over my weekend wear with my work wear. If you want to wear your new camo tee with a skirt and blazer, do it! You never want to get bored with getting dressed every day! So be you but be the best possible you! Don’t let something like ripped dress pants or a see-through shirt ruin your true style. Just take the time every day to put your best foot forward, especially in sky high heels!

So until next time,

Boots: Fab Finds Under $100

As much as I love summer, I must admit I greet the coming of Fall with great enthusiasm. Okay, I will admit it, I am completely head over heels in lust for boots. Fall will be here any day so it is time to starting shopping. Is it just me or is there an abundance of fall boots this season that are incredibly adorable and cost efficient? And not to mention that the weather is getting much more hospitable for actually wearing boots. In fact in the coming days I will be likely wearing only boots for a while as we are prepping for a serious cool down here in Pennsylvania.

Below are all different types of boots! The one thing they have in common is that they are under $100! Because between paying for student loans and groceries I really must slow it down on spending. Plus a pair of Frye boots are not in my budget JUST YET! So enjoy and comment below are your favorite style!

Fall Weddings

I love weddings. I love all the dancing, the families, the beautiful bride and groom, the wedded bliss, it’s all amazing. If you’re like me you want to try and find the perfect outfit for the wedding which  is a balanced mix of your style, the venue and the couple. You wouldn’t wear a ball gown to an outdoor bohemian wedding. The same goes for the seasons. Summer weddings have a totally different look than fall and winter weddings. From the fabric to the style the season makes a huge difference.

Since we are headed into the cooler months, we have to start switching out our wardrobe. My cousin is getting married next month and I can’t wait! It is an outdoor wedding which is going to bring amazing colors, a beautiful sunset and that crisp autumn air.

All weddings have the potential to be fun you just have to prepare for the climate. I once went to an outdoor ceremony in early October, I was planning on wearing just a shall, but at the last minute I grabbed my wool coat. It snowed the entire ceremony. Just make sure you understand what wears best and remember when in doubt, over prepare.

Also, nobody wants to look inappropriately dressed at a wedding, nobody. But beyond the obvious don’t-wear-white rule, there are other issues to contend with. Autumn nuptials offer the perfect excuse to up the glam factor! Whether you’re the mother-of-the-bride or a best friend, opt for looks in darker shades and luxe fabrics, and accessorize accordingly.

Think rich autumnal hues, gorgeous prints, and something that transitions from the church to the reception. But as we prep for some chillier weather, make sure you complete the look with the right coat or jacket — remember, nothing looks worse than pairing a puffer with a black evening gown!

So, Remember:

– Focus on the color. Neon is not a good match for the warm hues that fall brings us. If you want bold colors, try cobalt blue, emerald green or even a bright raspberry. Go for rich colors not vibrant.

-Be careful with the cut. You want to be warm but you don’t need to wear a cable-knit sweater dress.

– Choose the right fabric for the right season. Keep the linen dress at home. Try to wear a heavier fabric. If you wear a lighter fabric, wear it in a muted color. A yellow tutu dress isn’t going to help in November but if the tutu dress is in plum with some gold pumps, it will totally be a show stopper!

– I love heels, from sky high to strappy sandals, I don’t discriminate but your cork wedges are not wanted here so leave the summer shoes for the beach.

So here are some ideas:

Some of these are not budget friendly but I just wanted to show what styles and fabrics you should look for to prepare for the cooler months ahead!

Do what you can to keep those toes warm! Peep toes are fine for fall and work with stockings for Winter. Closed toes are another more obvious option!

These are just some of my top favorites, you can also use scarves/ shalls, cardigans, or even jean jackets.

9 Reasons Why I Love Football Season

This title is extremely deceiving, since I hate football. I live in Pennsylvania so we love, like really fucking love Penn State and Eagles/Steelers football, especially in my small hometown.

Well, I really love when Penn State wins too because when they do I get a free iced coffee Monday morning. That is were my love ends. I really don’t see the fun in sitting alone watching football all day on your 60 inch TV and bowl of chips. With your phone in hand, the TV blaring while your computer is streaming live stats, making most men almost look like stockbrokers on Wall Street. Like I’m sure my boyfriend can’t understand my excitement to watch hours of Gilmore Girls!

I don’t mind it when I’m at a bar and everyone’s attention isn’t sucked into this game or when we have a full day of fun and drinks with friends, but honestly I’m not a football gal. Some girls are, some just THINK they are. Then there are things like this article. Plus I think Bobby Boucher’s mama sums it up pretty nicely:

Buncha overgrown monsters
man-handlin’ each other…

Even though I don’t like football, I try really hard not hate on it all the time. Because when I binge watch a show and don’t do anything all day my boyfriend never says a word. Football season is just so exhausting though, Friday, Saturday, Sunday, Monday it’s just too much! I do try and look on the positive side to life so here are my reasons I love football season:

The mall, outlets and every other shopping based activity I love, isn’t crowded. I can peruse the shelves as I please. There is not hustle and bustle like Saturday morning at Target

Drink specials are ridiculous plus I love going to the bar Sunday afternoon

I love when people come over so any excuse for a party I am totally there!

Pizza, chicken wings and beer is the trifecta to my heart

Football means increased human gatherings. Increased human gatherings will do wonders for your Instagram game

My sport is field hockey, if Football is here, so is Field Hockey

My boyfriend is secluded to one room so I can clean the rest of the house OR if it’s a lazy Sunday I’ll commandeer the other TV to get my Netflix on

Football fashion equals leggings and t-shirts

Fall is here

So fight on State and just enjoy the fall months and the people you surround yourself with!

Fall Wardrobe Essentials

Spring is best known for cleaning, but for all the fashionistas out there, fall is the season of reinvention, when we embraces new looks and splurges on key pieces. From knee-high boots and oversized leather totes to chunky knit sweaters and tweed pants, this is the season to experiment with proportions and textures and honestly to take some risks. Just think Olsen twins.

Rather than adhere to the old, outdated rules of the trade (see: no whites after Labor Day) and mourn summer’s loves lost, we’re embracing the new season and all the fearless fashion it has to offer. So here is my quick list of my Fall Favorites. Comment and attach yours! I am dying to hear and learn more about the clothes worn in my favorite season for fashion!

Sex and the City Style: Carrie

“I will never be the woman
with the perfect hair,
who can wear white
and not spill on it”

Carrie Bradshaw in

The Naked Dress

I have been searching for one and right now Zara has something that is pretty close to what she wore! I love the sexiness of the dress and just how it was so sleek and simple

The little grey dress

Again she wears simple really well with the perfect amount of accessories

The Million Layered Dress

Just imagine gliding around a room in all that fabulousness

Tiffany Blue Coat in Paris

She looks like a doll I would play with, I think I need a fur beret!

She wore tulle before it was popular

And graphic tees..

Typical people pair them with some jeans and Toms, Carrie wears them in Dior and overalls

3 words: Vogue Photo Shoot

These are my top three favorites, by far. Especially the Dior gown.

She not only is in a tux with crimped hair but she is rocking an amazing headpiece/ crown!

PJs and Pearls

So much is going on here from the cream booties, to the sequin beanie- this is how Carrie does a sleepover

The Black Studded Belt

I love that this was used several times throughout the movie, because let’s be honest, I was beginning to think the woman never wore anything twice!

The White Dress

AGAIN, she does simple so well. She takes a plain piece and just lets the cut and fit do all the talking.

So cheers to Carrie Bradshaw and all of the style she brought into our lives. She made us feel confident in clothes WE love and not what is popular and in style. Lastly remember if you like it wear it.

So until next time,

Transition From Summer to Fall

For a number of reasons, early September is my favorite time of year. The temperature is just right and the touch of crispness in the air is a reminder that the season is turning. With that comes the changing of the seasonal wardrobe – which can be cause for anticipation and excitement.

Put away: All strictly summer weight materials (linens, open weave knits and light cottons, seersucker, eyelet)

Weaves worth keeping: Cashmere, woolens, heavier knits, fleece, silk, cotton, denim and leather

Colors and prints

Put away: Shades that scream “summer” like pastels, neon, tropical or floral prints, bright whites, and any prints or colors that obviously have a summer shelf life (Coral, salmon, butter yellow, baby blue, liberty prints, etc.)

Classic colors and patterns stay current: Jewel tones (like emerald and ruby), neutrals,  warm autumnal shades, mustard, oranges, red and burgundy, plum and eggplant purples, teal, navy, black, cream, brown, camel, tartan plaids, stripes, tweeds, etc.

Put away: Summer dresses, rompers, shorts, cropped or capri pants, strapless tops, sandals, espadrilles and open toe shoes, summer patterned handbags (daisies, straw, or nautical patterns)

Still in season and in style: Jeans, trousers, knit dresses, blazers, cardigans, long skirts and pretty tanks tops, tees, items you can layer, maxi dresses, jumpsuits, lace and feminine details, leather accessories

Upkeep Between Seasons

Twice a year, I like to send things out for a final cleaning and repair. Do this right before you pack things up for storage. You don’t want to put away dirty clothes for months. It is just easier to fix everything up. I also store everything in bins with cedar balls just in case there are moths looking to munch away at my clothes! Lastly love your dry cleaners they make everything so much easier.

But don’t pack away your summer pieces just yet! With just a few simple styling tricks you can take your favorite warm-weather basics into fall.

Some Do’s and Don’ts

1. Do: Invest in hats. This fall, one of the most popular accessories is for your hair. Consider caps of all shapes, sizes, and colors – hat hair is in! I love beanies, bucket hats, well actually any hat is an adorable added piece

2. Don’t: Stash your whites. Just because we’re past Labor Day, it doesn’t mean you have to hide your summer whites! Consider summer the new fall/winter, and pair your pants with fall/winter tops for a  cozy look. Plus winter white is my favorite color.

3. Do: Layer. Instead of opting for one thick sweater, jacket, or shirt, wear multiples. I love the old-school way of putting a flannel over a tee or even a chambray shirt with a sweater over that topped off with your favorite military jacket.

4. Don’t: Even think about putting away those patterns and prints. They’re not out yet! But do make sure to tone them down – instead of  a full dress or pant, think shirt, scarf, or skirt. Pair with  a subdued color and viola.

5. Do: Wear green. Everything from olive to emerald. Wear as a dress, jacket, skirt or top. Be bold.

6. Do: Grab yourself a feminine coat. Simple is out, bold and eye catching is in. Even if a patterned coat isn’t your style try you hand at a single color with feminine touches, like big bold buttons or fun and flirty cuts. See here. (I love the bow!)

7. Don’t: Wear tights or stockings as pants, they are not and will never be pants. Wear them under your favorite summer dress or skirt. Try to get patterned ones too, I’m currently looking for stockings with black polka dots.

8. Do: Know that scarves take any outfit from summer to fall as long as they are the right fabric. The picture above she is wearing clothes that can be worn in the summer but the deep eggplant scarf crosses that line into fall.

9. Don’t: Wear inappropriate clothes. Meaning, it is cold outside, don’t forget that. Always bring a coat or a scarf to warm you up. Yes summer clothes can be carried over but it is no longer 90 degrees.

10. Do: Store the flip-flops. Summer will come again, but the worst thing you can do it pretend like it’s still here. Cover your feet, and move on to shoes and boot!

Stay warm,

French is the New Black

There is something about France. I don’t know if it’s Paris, the Eiffel Tower or that the national language is the language of love! Well someone somewhere decided to take the female obsession with all things French and run with it. People right now can’t get enough of graphic tees, especially when they are in a different language.

I remember last year when Madewell came out with the Bien Fait tee. I walked into our local store and asked if they had any left and the girl blew me off saying that they have BEEN gone. So we began chatting and after a few minutes of talking about our favorite pieces in the store, she whispers, “we actually have a small in the back, do you want to try it on?”.

Is this real life? Did I really just have to prove my worthiness for this t shirt?

Apparently I did but obviously I bought it. Then before I knew it, most stores were carrying tees that had some type of French saying on it and I was hooked! Whether you piece your graphic tee with a tutu or even just a pair of distressed jeans, it add a little something to an outfit. The French have an effortlessness about their style so I love channeling my inner Parisian diva when I wear mine! So here are some stores that have the cutest French tees and how ideas on how to wear em!

Women: What We Are ACTUALLY Saying

What Girls Say Vs. What They Actually Mean

“I’m Fine!”

Jokes on you buddy it’s opposite day. We are actually pretty mad at whatever stupid thing you didn’t even know you did.

When we answer “Nothing” when asked “What’s Wrong?”

Again, something is wrong we just really don’t feel like getting into with you at your parents 50 wedding anniversary.

“How do I look?”

You really need to chose your words carefully with this one.

“I don’t care.”

Oh you bet your bottom dollar I do! So you need to go back to whatever I said initially and do it that way…

A loud sigh

This is the time we want you to ask us what is wrong. Even if you don’t ask we will eventfully tell you with a pretty aggressive approach.

“Thanks” vs “Thanks A Lot”

Thanks- all you respond with is you’re welcome, nothing more
Thanks a lot- start apologizing now

“I think I have something going on tonight…”

I have Netflix tonight that’s it, I really just don’t want to hang out

“I have nothing to wear.”

I actually have an entire room filled with clothes I just don’t currently like any of them.

“I like a guy who is romantic.”

No I don’t.

“Babe, can you do me a favor?”

I really don’t want to get up so I’m going to ask you to get me the bottle of water I left in the kitchen.

Avoiding eye contact

I do this right before I do my ugly cry, you know the cry where men have NO IDEA how to calm us down

So fellas just remember we love you and your tendencies so thank you for loving all of ours! You really mean the world to us, even if you get us mad and you have no idea why!

So until next time my loves,
