Uttering the phrase “Canadian Tuxedo” would send terror through the minds of designers in the early 2000s. Think Britney and Justin at the American Music Awards. Well monochromatic style took the winter season by storm especially with winter whites and as spring rolled around we decided to keep the trend going. Fall is right around the corner and I am just in love with the denim on denim style that so many people are pulling off.
For those newer to the style, try a very dramatic difference in the the colors, perhaps a dark skinny with a lighter washed chambray shirt. Those on the expert level know how to really break up the colors (belts, tanks and jewelery). The denim, if the same wash, shouldn’t come from the same store because it’s going to give you more of a redneck look.
Making sure you are wearing a variety of textures and shades will give you that tonal style you are going for. Mix your looks up, don’t always play it safe with a skinny jean and button-down. Maybe throw on a pair of distressed boyfriend jeans and a chambray tee. Give it your own flare.
Here are some of my favorite denim on denim looks.
